What information is recorded by the Australian Public Service Commission about me visiting this site?

When you look at this site, our service provider makes a record of your visit. Domain names are not registered and your visit to the site is anonymous unless you choose to register as a user of the site.

This information is not collected by the Commission.

No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service providers' logs. Please note that if you email the Commission your email will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided and it will not be added to a mailing list unless you have requested that this be done. We will not use your personal information for any purpose, and will not disclose it, without your prior consent.

What information is recorded when you register as a user of this site?

When you register as a user of this site you will need to provide your personal and contact details. These details will be used to administer your registration and attendance at any Commission events that you may book. This information may also be used by the APS Commission in fulfilling its functions under the Public Service Act 1999. The information will not be used to send you any marketing material unless you advise us you wish to be added to our mailing list.

What information will be recorded when you book on an event?

When you book onto any event your personal and contact details will be captured against that event and used for the administration of that event by the APS Commission.

What information will be recorded when you pay by credit card?

This site uses full strength encryption for personal and credit card details to protect your information. When you book to pay with credit card the standard credit card details will be collected including ; cardholders' name, cardholders' contact number, card type, card number and expiry date. These details will be held in our database for a brief period of time and deleted when credit card details have been verified.

Cookies – What are they and how do we use them?

A cookie is a small text file that is attached to your internet browser to ensure integrity of your session on any given site. Cookies are used on this site during session times but are not saved permanently to your internet browser. On completing your session on this site the cookie is removed from your internet browser.

Risks

You should note that there are risks associated with using the Internet as a transmission medium, in that when you send information over the Internet it might be possible for other people to see what you are sending. If this is of concern to you in relation to providing credit card details you can select the invoice option on the site. If this is of concern to you in relation to general information entered on the site then you should use an alternate means of booking onto Commission programs such as downloading a registration form from the following site www.apsc.gov.au and faxing it to the Commission.
